About Claudia L. Ignacio
Claudia Lorena Ignacio was born in Mexico City, and immigrated with her mother and her siblings to San Diego, CA in 1993. Her mother passed away when she was 17 years old.
She earned her bachelor’s degree in History at California State University, San Marcos while working full-time to support her siblings. Claudia worked hard to support her family and after graduating from college, her family duties did not allow her to go to law school. Over the years, she worked as a paralegal for attorneys in immigration, bankruptcy, family law and civil litigation. Claudia was also a realtor and owned a small tax preparation business.
After raising her siblings, she attended California Western School of Law to pursue her dream to become an attorney. She decided to combine her love for tax and became a tax attorney. Her passion is to help her clients understand and navigate through the complexity of U.S. tax laws.
She works with individuals and businesses on tax compliance, tax controversy and tax planning. She represents taxpayers against the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), Franchise Tax Board (FTB), Employment Department (EDD), etc. She assists taxpayers with collection issues including liens, levies, installment agreements, penalty abatement, injured spouse and offers in compromise. Her bilingual skills allow her to communicate with both English and Spanish speaking clients.
She also represents taxpayers in Mexico and other countries. She loves to strategize to help taxpayers. She understands the complex tax reporting requirements for foreigners and binationals. She often speaks at conferences and schools in and out of the United States.
Claudia loves to support her community. She has received many awards for her leadership and community service: San Diego County Bar Association Service by a New Lawyer, Super Lawyers Rising Star and San Diego La Raza Lawyers Association President’s Award. She continues to be a mentor to many students on campus and in her community.
Currently she serves as treasurer for the San Diego La Raza Lawyer’s Association Scholarship Board, as director of its Public Benefit Fund Board and as chair of its Community Service committee. She also serves on the San Diego County Bar Association, Tax Section and serves in the Audit Committee.
